UNITED STATES
My Experience
The United States is home, which makes exploring as much as possible especially meaningful to me. Its incredible diversity means every region offers something different. On the West Coast, you'll find sun warmed ocean beaches, ocean views and rugged cliffs. The Southwest is knon for dramatic desert landscapes, red-rock canyons and endless skies, while the Rocky Mountains offer wide open spaces and snowcapped horizons. The Great Lakes states have majestic waterfront views, the South is rich in food, living tradition and layered heritage. The East Coast blends historic cities with beautiful coastlines. From beaches, lakes and oceans to mountains, forests and volcanoes, the United States truly has something for every type of traveler.

Know Before You Go
1 ) Taxes and tipping
Sales tax is usually added at checkout rather than included in the displayed price. Tipping 18 to 20 percent is customary at full-service restaurants.
2 ) Distances are significant
The United States is enormous, and destinations that appear close on a map may be hours apart. Check driving times before planning multiple stops.
3 ) A car may be necessary
Public transportation is convenient in some major cities, but a rental car is often needed for national parks, smaller cities and rural areas.
4 ) Healthcare is expensive
Medical care can be costly, especially for visitors without U.S. insurance. Travel insurance with medical coverage is strongly recommended.
5 ) Weather varies by region
The country spans several climates, and conditions can differ dramatically between destinations. Check the local forecast and pack for the specific region you are visiting.
