IRELAND

My Experience

Ireland gave me the chance to experience beautiful countryside, historic architecture, and the relaxed pace of a smaller European destination. While Dublin is well known for its pubs and nightlife, I found myself drawn more to its castles, canals, and historic streets than to the pub culture. Visiting the Guinness Storehouse was interesting, but as someone who doesn't drink beer, it wasn't the highlight of my trip.

My favorite part of Ireland was traveling west to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher. The guided tour not only showcased Ireland's stunning landscapes but also provided a deeper understanding of the country's history and culture. Seeing the countryside beyond Dublin gave me a greater appreciation for Ireland and rounded out the experience in a way the city alone couldn't.

Know Before You Go

1 ) Dublin isn't representative of all of Ireland

Dublin is a great starting point, but Ireland's countryside, coastal scenery, and smaller towns offer a completely different experience.

2) Drive on the left

If you plan to rent a car, remember that Ireland drives on the left side of the road. Give yourself time to adjust, especially when navigating roundabouts and rural roads.

3 ) Distances can be deceiving

Roads outside the cities are often narrow and winding so travel times are longer than GPS might suggest.

4 ) Pubs offer more than just drinking

Even if you don't drink beer, many pubs offer live music, hearty meals and a welcoming atmosphere.

5 ) Ireland is split between two countries

Northern Ireland, including Belfast, is part of the United Kingdom, while the Republic of Ireland, including Dublin, is an independent EU country that uses the euro.
